Let’s set up

Check your volume.

Put your headphones on and set your device volume to 90%.

Need help getting set up?

Before you begin

A few small things to set yourself up well.

Three minutes is all it takes — but the results are noticeably more accurate if you can manage these four:

Use headphones if you can

Over-ear or in-ear is ideal. Built-in speakers also work — just keep them at a normal volume.

Find a quiet room

Background noise will skew the results. Close the door, turn the TV off, and settle somewhere comfortable.

Set aside three minutes

You won’t need any longer. Don’t rush — the test waits for you between each sound.

Set volume to medium

Roughly halfway. We’ll let you fine-tune at the start of the test with a calibration tone.

How it works

Three quiet steps.

  1. 1

    Calibrate your sound

You’ll hear a reference tone. Adjust your volume until it sounds clear but comfortable.

  2. 2

    Listen and respond

A series of soft tones plays in each ear, at different pitches. Tap when you hear one. Take your time.

  3. 3

    See your results

An instant summary and a clear next step — including the option to chat with Lachlan, our audiologist.
